CAFÉ
COMUNAL

When HMSHost asked us to come up with an eye-catching dining experience for the C-Pier at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, our imagination took a flight. We landed in Spain, home of passionate flamenco dancers and gracious toreadors. Drawing from the country’s rich architectural and cultural heritage, we designed a café that is bursting with expressive southern features and subtle Mediterranean references. Buen viaje!

Focal point of Cafe Comunal is the counter, with its authentic yet contemporary decorative details and typical colour setting. Filled with tapas, pizettas and boccadillos, you get a mouth-watering taste of the South before you actually get there.

A fierce flamenco dancer in a long and elegant dress graces the tile wall in red and black, guiding the attention of the traveller to a display of drinks. The communal table tempts the guests to a shared dinner experience, stimulating an honest kind of openness at this cafe.

Warm colours alternate in the different seating corners. A central area with swivel chairs in red and black is surrounded with long patterned benches, ending in a higher seating corner with plug-ins for laptops and phones.
