The renovated Holland Boulevard at Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport can now help passengers really discover what the Netherlands is all about. In the midst of the many outlets and shops, stands Dutch Kitchen & Bar, A unique design stopover where ‘poffertjes’, the traditional tiny Dutch pancakes, taste even better….

The Netherlands may well be a very small country, but the Dutch are dreamers by nature and like to push back boundaries. Whether in technology, design, fashionor architecture, they often manage to outdo themselves. So the concept was self-evident: “where a small country can do great things.”
Whence the idea of creating a Dutch setting in surrealistic surroundings. Typical Dutch elements such as tulips are enlarged enormously out of proportion, while a view of a Dutch polder landscape on the floor from above is minimised tremendously.

The original wall tiles and the service sets are painted by a Royal Delft master painter.”
The Dutch Kitchen and Dutch Bar are two different worlds that subtly merge thanks to a chequered floor pattern. The two worlds reflect the characteristic image of the Netherlands: classic and charming on the one side, with houses on the canals and tulips; modern on the other side, with contemporary architecture.
We opted for expressive colours and materials to give visitors a real feeling of two worlds. The Dutch Kitchen exudes more charm, with light, bright colours, whereas the Dutch bar has a rather cosmopolitan and adult look, with mysterious, dark hues and gleaming textures.
