When Albron asked us to help create their first restaurant for Amsterdam’s AMC hospital, we decided to dissect the most pressing needs of visitors, staff and patients.

Our diagnosis: a hunger to escape the —sometimes harsh— reality of the hospital’s daily business. Our cure: the creation of ‘Pit’, a place where everyone is welcome to enjoy fresh food and beverages in a relaxed environment with easy access for wheelchair patients and ailing bodies in need of refreshment. When it comes to making your day at the hospital a bit better, our creativity proved to be just what the doctor ordered.

Thanks to a healthy choice of homemade items on the menu and a local ‘nanogarden’ to grow their own vegetables and herbs, Pit is not your typical hospital cantina. Creneau and Albron co-created a haven where families can sit together at long tables and patients can find shelter underneath the custom designed parasols.

Everyone can meet and lounge about in comfortable seats surrounded by natural plants and herbs. The open kitchen proudly displays its fresh ingredients and if you just want to grab a coffee.
