I’ll meet you at ‘Hello Goodbye’. You know that fuzzy feeling in your belly when your plane has landed and you’re shuffling along the tiny tunnel from the tarmac to the airport?

That’s precisely the “there’s no place like home” moment Creneau tried to capture in our newest food & beverage concept for Amsterdam Airport. The ‘Hello Goodbye’ bar is located at Arrival section 1: a place where friends and family eagerly await the arrival of their loved ones, often with home-made ‘Welcome Home’ banners already up in the air.

This DIY spirit of welcoming people to The Netherlands was the central inspiration to our concept and design: a warm and welcoming mixture of handwritten text, perfectly imperfect graphics and touristy objects, blending in with more subtle references to travel (comfortable seats shaped like luggage) and the happy occasion of a homecoming (familiar Dutch elements such as tulips, an entire menu filled with variations of local comfort food favorite ‘the tosti’ and the typical kitchen cabinets you’ll find in many Dutch homes). It’s the perfect place to host a welcoming party or to rest your weary traveller’s bones.
